Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific athletic department hosted Pacific Sports Day on Tuesday, Apr. 25 as the Pacific Student Athletic Council sponsored approximately 160 fourth graders from Westwood Elementary and John Muir Elementary Schools.

Pacific Sports Day is a community service tradition that is in its 11th year. Over 60 student-athletes volunteered their time teaching athletic skills and playing games with the elementary kids. It also is a time to emphasize sportsmanship and making the right decisions especially as they relate to academics.

"This was such a good event because our kids were exposed to the idea of college at such a young age," said Westwood Elementary Fourth Grade Teacher Alex Salzmann. "Many are from households where higher education is not stressed. Also, it was good to devote a day to physical exercise. So much talk has been devoted to the issue of childhood obesity. I have always preferred action. Thank you PACIFIC!."
