58 Pacific Student-Athletes Participated in Graduation Ceremonies

May 17, 2008 STOCKTON - Fifty-eight Pacific student-athletes participated in the graduation ceremonies on May 17th on the Pacific Campus. Of the graduates six graduated in December but participated in the spring commencement activities. The commencement exercise took place at the Alex G. Spanos Center on the Stockton Campus and each of the schools held their diploma and hood ceremonies in the afternoon. The graduation ceremonies also included Big West Scholar-Athletes, Julie Magud and Brett Manning who were honored this past year for their academic and athletic achievements as well as their leadership and community outreach efforts. Dr. Terry Maple, a 1968 Pacific alumnus, eminent conservationist, and former director of the acclaimed Zoo Atlanta, delivered the keynote address for the 151st Commencement ceremony at University of the Pacific. Dr. Maple also played baseball under Tom Stubbs. The 1968 team was inducted into the Pacific Hall of Fame in 2000. In 2004, Maple was honored with the Amos Alonzo Stagg Award recognizing the lifetime achievements of former student-athletes.
