Prior to Pacific (Merced Junior College)
An All-League shortstop for coach Chris Pedretti with the Merced Devils, Borba raised his average over 100 points from his freshman to sophomore seasons, hitting .347 with four home runs, 25 runs batted in and a team-best 52 hits in 2010. A table-setter, Borba posted a .407 on-base percentage and picked up eight steals in 10 attempts while laying down 12 sacrifice bunts.

High School
At Golden Valley High School in Merced, Borba was a First Team All-Central Valley League shortstop in 2008, hitting .433 with a .480 on-base percentage. Stole 11 bases in 14 attempts as a senior.
