A two-time First Team All-Santa Cruz Coast League selection, as a junior and senior. Gomez posted a .495 batting average as a senior with three home runs. During his junior campaign, he recorded a .567 batting average as 19 of his 51 hits went for extra bases. He also drove in 34 runs and stole 36 bases in 37 attempts... As a sophomore, Gomez tallied a .415 average with six doubles and three home runs... During Gomez's sophomore season in 2008, he hit .415 with six doubles, three home runs, and 28 RBI. That gave Curtis a .646 slugging percentage which helped him earn second team all-league accolades... Played under his father, Curtis Gomez, who was the head coach of St. Francis Central Coast Catholic High School... A three-sport athlete, Gomez also played quarterback on the varsity football team and point guard on the Sharks basketball team, earning First Team All-League honors in basketball as a senior.
