2008 (Junior):

In his first year at a Division I university, McCain finished second overall in innings pitched with 84.1 in 17 appearances to earn himself a solid starting position from mid-March on. Mark's best outing of the year came against Minnesota on Mar. 15 when he pitched a complete game and allowed one earned run on four hits, while striking out a stellar 15 batters for his first win of the season. McCain had four other appearances with seven or more innings pitched. He finished the year second on the team with 60 total strikeouts and kept his walks at 28.

Previous School (Richland College):

Mark spent his first two seasons at Richland College in Dallas, Texas. McCain was 3-1 with two saves and 36 strikeouts as he helped lead the Thunderducks to back-to-back National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Regional Finals. McCain's best moment as a Thunderduck came during the regional tournament as he appeared in three games in 24 hours, recording one win and one save in 5.1 innings. During that time, McCain held the opposition hitless. Mark spent the summer of 2007 competing in the Texas Collegiate League with the McKiney Marshalls.

High School:

McCain is a 2005 graduate of Jesuit College Prep in Dallas, Texas. As a Ranger, Mark earned two letters in baseball and posted a 2-0 record with one save and a perfect 0.00 ERA in his senior season.

Personal:

Mark McCain is the son of Dennis and Barbara McCain and has two siblings, Barry (24) and Mary (17). In his second year at Pacific, Mark is majoring in sport sciences.
