2010 (Freshman):
Dustin started five games for the Tigers during his first year of Division I competition, appearing in 16 total games in 2010. Torchio went 6-for-27 on the year with four walks, leading to a .312 on base percentage. Against UC Santa Barbara on May 30, Dustin had a 2-for-5 plate appearance with his first career triple, a run and an RBI. On three other occasions Dustin drove in a runner, doing so against No. 18 Stanford (Feb. 24), Seattle (Mar. 7) and Notre Dame (Mar. 12).
High School:
Dustin served as a four-year starter for Santa Cruz High School where he graduated from in 2009. Torchio anchored second base on defense and led the team on offense. During his senior year, Torchio earned First Team All-County acclaim after hitting .350 that season. As a junior, he helped lead Santa Cruz to the Division III championship game, along the way scoring 52 runs while producing 12 doubles, 24 RBIs, 26 walks and hitting .366 as the team's leadoff hitter. Torchio was named to the All-Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League First Team and the Santa Cruz Sentinel's All-Santa Cruz County team. He was selected as the County's Offensive MVP of the year. During Dustin's sophomore campaign he also hit .350 to make the Second Team All-Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League list.
Personal:
Dustin Torchio was born in Santa Cruz, Calif., and is the son of Darrell and Sharon Torchio. He has three siblings, Aaron (26), Ryan (22) and Hannah (13). While not playing baseball, Dustin enjoys watching movies, playing video games and ping pong as well as singing. In his second year at Pacific, Torchio is an exploratory major with hopes of coaching baseball in the future.
