Last week was a COLD week of practices. It felt like the Colorado spring weather that I grew up in! Even though it rained and was cold all week, we found ways to get outside and play through the weather. Hopefully these practices helped prepare us for the bad weather games we might run into, especially down in Houston at the start of the season. We finally were allowed to start our full team practices on Friday. We played an intrasquad scrimmage on Friday, a shorter one on Saturday and one on Sunday. We are trying to simulate what playing a weekend series is like to get ready. On Friday the ball was flying out of the park with three homeruns hit. Matt Fuson, Mike Walker and Noah St. Urbain supplied the major power for the day. The pitchers were Cole Akins, Hunter Carnevale, David Rowse, and Tyler Waldron. The starters for Saturday's freezing cold scrimmage were Corey Kohnke vs. myself. Lastly, the starters for Super Bowl Sunday's scrimmage were Thomas Berolzheimer vs. Mark McCain. There was an estimated 10,000 gallons of water on the tarp before we pulled it off on Sunday morning! Klein Family Field is amazing how well it handles water with the underground drainage system at the edge of the left side of the infield.

The weather looks pretty clear for this week so we should be able to practice outside and will most likely be scrimmaging again this weekend. We will have Wednesday off because of our community night over at Brookside Country Club.

The alumni events were rescheduled for Feb. 16th with alumni batting practice, bullpen sessions and a BBQ, followed by a scrimmage between the current Tigers. It will be a fun day at the park so please try to make it out.

Former President Clinton is stopping by campus today (Monday) at 2 P.M. to promote Hillary in the Spanos Center. It was pretty fun to see those Giants and my long lost cousin win yesterday to break the Pat's perfect season! It just goes to show that like `ol Yogi Berra said, "It aint over till it's over!"

Hope to see you out at the community night on Wednesday!

Go Tigers!
