Our struggles continued against BYU as we dropped both games to them on Tuesday and Wednesday. Mike McKeever showed up to play against his old teammates hitting a triple and two doubles in the games. Our struggles continued through the weekend as we dropped three games to Gonzaga. The first baseman for Gonzaga, Ryan Wiegand, who grew up playing with some of our San Diego players, was accountable for a lot of the damage against us collecting 10 RBI's on the weekend.
Kerry Jenkins, who was recruited to Pacific as a position player, has been working on becoming a two-way guy and got his first inning on the mound in Sunday's game. After some conditioning on Monday, we were hoping to get things back on track Tuesday with our visit up to Sacramento State. The new bus we are traveling on this year is completely cutting edge with all leather seats, a mini kitchen in the back and satellite T.V. At the end of Tuesday's game we came up short again of a victory. Today we traveled to San Francisco looking to get a win to get something going our way before Minnesota rolls into town this weekend for a three game series beginning Friday night, but we came up short again. Today in practice, we're going to work on our team and individual deficiencies and clear up our minds to get back on track this weekend.
I received an email from Kathy Kohnke (Corey Kohnke's Aunt) all the way from Ft. Lauderdale, FL asking a few questions about some of our guys. The questions were:
1.) Who is the team joker?
2.) Who is the best dressed on the road?
3.) Who is the biggest eater?
4.) What are some of the superstitions that the guys have?
The answers are:
1.) Corey Kohnke
2.) A tie between John Joines and Adam Ching
3.) Probably David Rowse
4.) Adam Ching always puts his left sock on before his right sock when putting on his uniform; Tyler Waldron always wears a certain necklace on the days that he pitches; Joey Centanni always listens to Classical Music on the days he pitches, and Joe Olivera eats pasta the night before every home game.
We look forward to seeing you out at Klein Family field this weekend. It looks like there is a chance of rain coming to town on Saturday so be sure to pack your umbrella.
