Stockton, Calif. - Sophomore outfielder and 2008 Freshman All-American Nick Longmire and his teammates turned some heads in the Western Major Baseball League this summer, as Longmire added another honor to his résumé after being named a first team all-star in his league.

Longmire, sophomore pitcher Thomas Berolzheimer and sophomore second baseman Sean Sullivan spent their summer months with the Yorkton Cardinals in Canada, playing in the fourth-best summer collegiate league in North America as recognized by Baseball America.

Nick's impressive numbers in the batter's box earned him the award at the conclusion of league play, even though a back strain forced him to call his season early after only 25 games. Starting all 25 games he played, Longmire's .392 batting average ranked fourth among players with 25 games played or more in the Western Major Baseball League and was a team-leading mark for the Cardinals.

He also launched five home runs, tying him for fourth overall in the league, and registered a .585 slugging percentage to claim the No. 2 overall spot in the league. His numbers continued to skyrocket with a .436 OBP, Nick went a perfect five-for-five on the base path with stolen bags.

From the mound, Berolzheimer recorded a 2.45 ERA in 17 appearances over 36.2 innings - good for eighth overall in his league - and also led the Cardinals in ERA. He only relinquished 10 earned runs during the summer while striking out 41 total batters.

Sullivan rounded out the Tigers on Yorkton's roster and followed in his teammates' footsteps. Sean hit .200 in 31 games during the summer with four RBI, one triple and two doubles.
