Summer 2008 ~ TJ began his summer with a trip to the British Amateur Championship in Scotland and ended it at the US Amateur in Pinehurst. He made the British per an automatic invitation for his win at the Oregon Duck Classic earlier that spring. Bordeaux advanced to the round of 64 for match play as the 64th seed after posting rounds of 72-78. He promptly went out in the first round and defeated the tournament's top seed 3&2 before falling in the second round. His entry into the US Amateur came on the heels of a strong qualifier at Chambers Bay in Washington. Following his trip overseas Bordeaux played in the Sahalee Players on July 1-3 where he shot a 72-78-77. He posted an opening round 67 at the PNGA Men's on July 5th before falling in the second round of match play at Banbury. He also shot a 68 at Chambers Bay, future site of the US Open, just two strokes off the course record. In addition TJ fired a 64 at Fircrest in late July, just two strokes off the course record there as well. 2007-08 ~ Bordeaux wasted little time in stepping in as the future leader of the Pacific Golf team during his freshman season. In his first collegiate tournament he finished 15th at the Adam's Cup and followed it up with an 8th place at the Pac-10 heavy Husky Invitational. Shooting three-straight rounds under par at the Del Walker, TJ helped the Tigers to a second place finish as he recorded his second Top 10 finish of his young career. He picked up where he left off in the fall, taking fourth place at the Rice Intercollegiate all the while battling the flu. After a 12th place finish at the Fresno Lexus Classic he then joined the record book by winning the Oregon Duck Classic at Emerald Valley. Bordeaux hit precision wedges as he jumped to a five stroke lead after day one with back-to-back 68's. It was the first individual win for the Tigers since Matt Hansen's Big West victory in 2001. TJ closed out the spring with a 14th at the Stevinson Ranch Invitational but average showings at the ASU Thunderbird and Big West Championships kept him just outside the bubble of NCAA Regional. His 72.38 stroke average was second best all-time in Pacific Golf history and his team best 12 rounds at par or better helped him collect First Team All-Big West honors. Bellermine Preparatory ~ The summer before his freshman year at Pacific TJ played in a host of tournaments. He finished 11th at the Washington Men's Amateur and took part in the Rosener Open Invitational. He took third at the Washington 4A Boys State Championship and played in both the Western Junior Amateur and the Heather Farr Classic. He was also a member of Junior America's Cup and played in the Callaway Junior Worlds. As a freshman Bordeaux placed second in the high school state championship and 13th as a junior. Bordeaux attended Bellarmine Prepatory in Tacoma, Washington where he lettered in golf for four years as well as two years of basketball. A member of the National Honor Society, TJ excelled both in the classroom and on the golf course. TJ Bordeaux is the son of Tim and Lorrie Bordeaux. In his sophomore year at Pacific, TJ will be majoring in business. |
