Summer 2007 Van Sicklen took the off-season to rework his swing and prepare for his junior season; he won the Lodi Amatuer in July, shooting a 73-68 at Lockeford Springs. He also played in the Vallejo and Merced Amatuer, finishing third. He took third place in the Amador County, shooting a 72-72. He also won the Mid-Valley Amatuer Qualifier in July. Charlie shot a personal best 64 at The Reserve at Spanos Park.
2006-2007 Second year captain Charlie Van Sicklen played in five tournaments during the 2007 spring season, shooting an average of 75.6 over 24 rounds. He opened up his spring season with a 24th place finish at the Rice Intercollegiate in February and came back with a final round 71 at the Oregon Duck Invitational in Eugene. Van Sicklen shot an opening round 74 at the Pacific Coast Intercollegate, helping Pacific to their lowest team round in more than six years. He took home a 33rd place finish at the Big West Championship in April, shooting a 54-hole score of 232.
2005-2006 Van Sicklen played his best tournament of the year at the Big West Championship, finishing as the low man for the Tigers enroute to an 11th place finish. He also earned the Tigers Dr. Glen Albaugh Most Improved Player Award. A consistent on the Tiger squad; the redshirt freshman has played in every tournament this year, shooting a 76-75-81=232 in the Rice Intercollegiate. He also posted a 83-78 at the Anteater and took top honors for the Tigers at the Braveheart Classic, posting a 74-78-78. Van Sicklen posted a career-low the next week at the Cowboy Classic, a 71 at Talking Stick North. Van Sicklen returned to the rotation after redshirting last year to play in all 15 rounds for Pacific, shooting a 78.1 average over five tournaments for the Tigers. As team captain Charles was one of only three Tigers to play in every tournament during the fall season.
2004-05 Charles redshirted his freshman year.
Tokay High School Van Sicklen graduated from Tokay High School in 2004 where he was a two-sport athlete in both soccer and golf. On the soccer field, Charles was a two-time All-San Jauguin Athletics Association selection. On the links, he was named his teams MVP in each of his four years. Outside of sport, Charles was placed on the school honor roll in each of his final two years.
Personal Charles Van Sicklen was born on September 29, 1986 and is the son of James and Mary Van Sicklen. In his fourth year at Pacific he is majoring in biological science and sport medicine.
