2007-08 (Junior): During his third season with Pacific, Dave continued to be a force for the Tigers in the individual medley and breaststroke events. At the Big West Championships from Feb. 20-23, he finished seventh among all swimmers with a 4:09.99 time in the 200 IM. During the season's final meet he recorded three more season-high finishes in the 100 Back (59.36), 200 Fly (1:56.42) and the 200 IM (2:02.02). In addition to his strong swimming Platow was recognized as an accomplished student, earning Academic All-Big West honors for winter sports after finishing the semester with at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average. 2006-07 (Sophomore): Dave posted times in five different events for the Tigers in 2006-07, swimming in the 100 Fly, 100 Breast, 200 Breast, 200 IM and 400 IM. He finished 14th at the Big West Championships when he swam the 200 Fly in 1:53.53. 2005-06 (Freshman): As a freshman, Platow posted his best times in the 200 Fly (1:55.87) and the 100 Breast (59.44) at the Big West Championships in February. He swam his fastest times in the 200 Breast (2:09.93) and the 400 IM (4:16.29) at the Husky Meet in Washington. High School: Dave attended Fairfield College Preparatory School in Fairfield, Conn., where he lettered in swimming all four years. He earned All-Conference and All-State honors during his senior campaign, while also being named a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and was a member of the National Honor Society. Personal: David Platow Jr. was born in New York, N.Y., and is the son of Bill and Maura Marden. He has two siblings, Bart and Daniel, who is also a member of the Tigers' swim team. Dave is a business major in his fourth year at Pacific. |
