At Pacific

Jonathan helped the Tigers finish second at the Big West Championships by swimming to five of his eight season best times at the meet. He set a new personal best time in the 200 Back (1:46.52), which placed him second in school history. At the Pacific Invitational, Russell swam to a career best time of 16:51.78 in the 1650 Free. He moved into fifth place on the school record list in the 200 Free with a career best time of 1:38.60 at the Big West Championships. In the 2002-03 season at Pacific, Russell scored points in helping the Tigers repeat as Big West Champions in 2003. He recorded top times in the 200 Back (1:48.33), 200 Free (1:39.24), and the 500 Free (4:28.58). In his first season at Pacific, Russell placed second in the Pacific record book in the 200 Back with a time of 1:47.78 at the Big West Championships in 2002. After his first year, Russell was fifth in the Pacific record book in the 100 Back, and sixth in the 200 Free.

High School

Jonathan attended Santa Margarita High School in Santa Margarita, Calif. He collected his first CIF victory in his junior season in the 200 Free with a time of 1:40.25. Russell set a personal best time in the 100 Free (46.50) during his senior season.

Personal

Jonathan Patrick Russell was born on July 21, 1982, in Newport, Calif., and is the son of Robert and Tina Russell. Jonathan is a studio art major in his fourth year at Pacific.
