Fall 2006 (Senior): Kelly finished his final tournament season with a 2-2 singles record and a combined 1-6 record with two different partners. In addition to Alan's increasing success on the tennis court, Kelly was named Pacific's Big West Scholar-Athlete. Kelly will be honored at the Big West Basketball Tournament in mid-March. Spring 2006 (Junior): Alan posted a combined 8-13 singles record and a 9-11 doubles mark with three different partners. Kelly earned two victories at the No. 4 position and three each at No. 5 and No. 6. Alan's best victory came on Jan. 28 as he earned a straight set win over Nevada's No. 4, Eldar Dzhafarov, 7-6 (4), 6-3. Following the season, Kelly was named to the CoSida Academic All-American District VIII Second Team. Fall 2005 (Junior): Kelly was 2-5 during his junior fall tournament season in singles play. He was 0-3 with two separate partners in doubles action. Spring 2005 (Sophomore): Alan was 5-15 at the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions. Kelly was most successful at the No. 6 position, where he was 3-5. He was a combined 7-13 with three partners, all at the No. 3 doubles position. Fall 2004 (Sophomore): Kelly lodged a 3-5 singles record during the fall tournament season of 2004. He combined for a 3-5 doubles mark with three different partners. Spring 2004 (Freshman): Alan joined the Tigers prior to the Spring 2004 season. He immediately became a mainstay in both Pacific's singles and doubles lineups, posting a 6-10 singles record and a 4-10 record in doubles play. High School: A 2003 graduate of Sandford Park School in Dublin, Ireland, Kelly captained his school's tennis team for three years and was undefeated at the No. 1 singles position in 2000 and 2001. Kelly was ranked No. 4 in Ireland in the Under-16 and Under-17 age groups. A true scholar-athlete, he received academic excellence awards seven years of his academic career. Personal: Alan Kelly was born in Dublin, Ireland and is the son of Bryan and Barbara Kelly and has three older brothers David (30), Steven (26), Peter (24). Kelly is in his fourth year at Pacific and is majoring in mathematics. |
