Artem Gramma advances to round three of flight two singles play

Fresno, Calif. - The Pacific men's tennis team opened up play at the Fresno State Bulldog Invitational on Oct. 5 in Fresno, Calif., as Artem Gramma (Krivoj Roj, Ukraine) advanced past the round of 16 in flight two of singles play and Chase Oliphant (Indio, Calif.) advanced past the round of 32 in flight three.

After receiving a bye in the first round of singles play in flight two, Gramma advanced to the third round of flight two by defeating Timothy Lantin of Sacramento State 7-5, 7-5. Oliphant advanced to the round of 16 in flight three of singles play by defeating Cameron Spearmen of Nevada 1-6, 6-5, 7-6, before falling to Taylor Leiby of Fresno State in the round of 16.

In doubles play, David Gonzalez (Guayaquil, Ecuador) and Gramma teamed up to defeat Jolly and Carroll of Fresno Pacific 8-6, before falling to Jackson and Wolmarans of UC San Diego in the quarterfinals 8-4.

The Tigers will continue play at the Fresno State Bulldog Invitational on Oct. 6. The tournament will conclude on Oct. 7.
