Junior Moritz Starke Named Big West Player of the Week

Irvine, Calif. - After winning twice in singles action and winning one of his two doubles matches last week, Pacific junior Moritz Starke has now been named the Big West Player of the Week for the week of Mar. 17-23.
After sweeping his singles matches last week, Starke is now 7-4 in singles competition this year playing all but two of his matches at the No. 1 position. In doubles action, he is now 6-5 on the year playing with David Gonzalez (Guayaquil, Ecuador) and Artem Gramma (Krivoj Roj, Ukraine) at the No. 1 spot.
Last week Starke defeated Emmanuel Nkoeleue of Georgia Southern and Trent Hagan of Marquette in singles play and he teamed up with Gramma to defeat Nkoeleue and Borja Malet of Georgia Southern in doubles play. He is now 39-16 overall in his three year career at Pacific in singles play.
Starke and the Pacific men's tennis team will be back in action on Mar. 27, when they play host to DePaul University at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts in Stockton, Calif. Matches will start at 1:00 p.m.
