In his first year of intercollegiate play Kris served as the primary setter for the year, leading the Tigers with 907 assists, appearing in 24 matches for Pacific, and starting 22 of them.

High School
Kris graduated from Maine South High School in Park Ridge, Ill., where he was a four year letter winner in volleyball and a one year letterman in basketball. Staks helped to guide his team to three consecutive Central Suburban Conference titles from 2004-2006. From 2005-2007 Staks was awarded All-Central Suburban Conference Honors, and received All-State honors in 2006 and 2007. Staks was named the USA Volleyball's Fab50 list of high school prospects in 2007.

Personal
Kristaps Staks is the son of Martin and LouAnn Staks, and has one sister, Andra. In his second year at Pacific, Kris is majoring in business.
