No. 9 Pacific Drops Three-Set Decision at No. 11 Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 9 Pacific men's volleyball team fell to 9-6 overall and 3-4 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation action with a 30-26, 30-21, 30-27 conference loss at No. 11 Stanford (4-8, 3-6 MPSF) on Friday, Feb. 11.

Pacific jumped out to an early three-point lead and held it through most of the first set. Stanford was unable to close the gap until a three-point rally evened the score at 26-26. The Cardinal then came out of a Pacific timeout on a 4-0 run to close out the set.

Stanford held an early three-point lead in set two and stretched the margin to five at 23-18. The Cardinal went on to a 30-21 victory in the set to take a 2-0 advantage in the match.

Stanford fought off a late Pacific rally in set three to close the match with a 30-27 win.

Senior Brian Zodrow (Kaneohe, Hawaii) led Pacific with a match-high 17 kills. Zodrow had just two errors in 30 attacks, good for a .500 hitting percentage. Senior Nils Dauburs (Riga, Latvia) was the only other Tiger in double figures in kills with 11.

Craig Buell led Stanford with 13 kills.

Pacific is next in action with a conference match at UC Irvine on Friday, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m.
