Men's Volleyball Adds Jason Borchin for 2008 Season

Stockton, Calif. Pacific men's volleyball head coach Joe Wortmann announced the arrival of transfer, Jason Borchin, on Thursday, Dec. 20. A native of Roseville, Calif., Borchin will join the Tigers as a sophomore in January of 2008.

Borchin is an outside hitter who spent the past two years at Sacramento State, playing for the Hornets' club volleyball team. Before playing for the Hornets, Jason graduated from Oakmont High School, where he was a standout athlete in volleyball, basketball and water polo.

In his three seasons at the varsity level for Oakmont, Borchin averaged 22 kills per match, including a career-high 38 kills in 2005 against Woodcreek High School. A three-time MVP for Oakmont, Borchin earned the All-Sierra Foothill League MVP honor following the 2005 season and was a two-time All-Sierra Foothill League First Team member.

During his high school career, Borchin played club volleyball for the Sacramento Volleyball Club team in 2004 and 2005. During both seasons, Jason nabbed All-Tournament Team recognition at the Junior Olympic National Tournament.

The Tigers open the 2008 season on January 4th and 5th at the UC Santa Barbara/Elephant Bar Tournament. Pacific will play three matches during the tournament, beginning with University of Alberta on Jan. 4th.
