2005 (Junior): Matt's junior campaign exemplified his abilities as an all around performer, as he was second on the team with 50 goals, and led the team with 47 steals and 42 assists. Turnbull recorded the game winning goal with less than a minute remaining in the Tigers 9-8 upset over Pepperdine in the MPSF Tournament on Nov. 26. Matt was named to the 2005 Academic All-MPSF team. 2004 (Sophomore): In his first season at Pacific, Matt provided an offensive spark as he finished second on the team with 29 goals. He scored in 19 of the teams 25 games, and recorded seven multi-goal games. During the summer, Matt was a member of the Australian Water Polo team that competed at the World University Games in Izmur, Turkey. At Hawker College: Matt attended Hawker College in Canberra Act, Australia. He was honored with an outstanding achievements in sport award. High School: Matt attended Belconnen High School in Canberra Act, Australia, and was a five-sport athlete. He competed in volleyball, water polo, swimming, track, and soccer, and helped guide his water polo team to three league championships in 2000, 1999, and 1997. Personal: Matthew Turnbull was born in Act, Australia and is the son of Mark and Rhonda Turnbull. In his free time, Matt enjoys surfing, snowboarding, and cooking. He is majoring in secondary education and plans to teach PE and play competitive water polo in the future. |
