2006 (Senior): Yamamoto redshirted the 2006 season to focus on swimming. 2005 (Junior): Kenny had a strong start to the 2005 campaign and ended up with 26 goals, 28 assists and 16 steals on the season. Yamamoto scored nine goals in the Tigers' first tournament of the season, the Navy Invitational, leading Pacific to a 3-1 record. Yamamoto was named to the 2005 Academic All-MPSF team. 2004 (Sophomore): In his first season of competition for Coach Maroney, Kenny notched an impressive 10 goals. His biggest feat came on Oct. 3rd, when he scored the game winning goal with 1:41 left in sudden death to defeat Navy, 10-9. Yamamoto had a strong finish to the year, with a total of five goals over the last five games. Kenny also was a scorer for the men's swimming team, competeting in back and IM. 2003 (Freshman): Kenny was a part of the men's swim team in 2003. In his first year as a Tiger, Kenny was a back and IM specialist for the swim team. High School: Kenny attended San Clemente High School in San Clemente, Calif., where he was a four-year letterwinner in swimming and a three-year letterwinner in water polo. Yamamoto was a Triton of the Year nominee and Athlete of the Year nominee. Personal: Kenny Yamamoto was born in San Clemente, Calif. and is the son of Ryuichi and Noriyo Yamamoto. Kenny enjoys playing basketball, surfing, and reading in his spare time. He is majoring in psychology, with a future interest of being a high school counselor. Coach Maroney on Kenny: "Kenny is an outstanding swimmer who will pick up a lot of extra balls for us this year. His defense is not only outstanding, but it also creates counter goals that can change the course of a game. He is a great player to have on top creating havoc on defense and will be a huge contributor this year." |
