CHICO STATE:
Amber comes to Pacific after playing three distinguished seasons at Chico State. Last season as a junior, Simmons posted 16.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game while tallying 26 blocks, 61 steals, and a .502 shooting percentage en route to her second straight First Team All-West Region selection. In 2005-06, Simmons earned Division II All-America honors after averaging 18.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.3 steals, 2.0 assists, and 1.2 blocked shots per game in the process. As a freshman, Simmons was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Freshman of the Year.
HIGH SCHOOL:
A 2004 graduate of Chico High School in Chico, Calif., Amber was a three-sport athlete as she played both basketball and volleyball while also running track. On the court for the Panthers, Amber received numerous honors including being named to the all-league, all-conference and all-state teams as a senior. In her final season, Simmons led Chico High School to the North Section championship.
PERSONAL:
Born in Chico, Calif., Amber Simmons is the daughter of Gillian DeLaVega and Robert Simmons. She has six siblings, Janelle, Jordan, William, Julia, Jacob and Zethry. In her second year at Pacific, Amber is majoring in sport management.
