Redshirt Junior (2009-10):
Despite an ACL injury in the offseason, Shantel eased her way back into Division I play with 13 contests under her belt during her junior season at Pacific. In her first two minutes on the floor, Thomas proved a successful contributor for the Tigers with four points, a 2-for-2 trip to the free throw line, one block and a steal in the team's first win of the season on Nov. 17 against Southern Utah. In Thomas' next showing, she matched her season-high four points at Iona on Nov. 20 in addition to one rebound. At Iona, Shantel posted a season-high 13 minutes played for her longest showing of the season. On that East Coast road swing, Shantel grabbed a season-high two rebounds at Monmounth two days later.
Redshirt Sophomore (Cosumnes River College):
After transferring to Cosumnes River College from UC Santa Barbara, Thomas averaged 17.5 points and 8.9 rebounds last season in 2008-09.
Freshman (UC Santa Barbara):
Shantel saw time in 25 games as freshman, averaging 2.5 points and 2.6 rebounds in 11.2 minutes per contest.
High School:
A graduate of Sacramento High School in Sacramento, Calif., Thomas was the No. 9 ranked senior by NorCal Hoops and 45th out of the top-100 by Grass Roots Sports in the state of California coming out of high school. As a senior at Sacramento High School, Thomas earned All-CAL First Team honors as a guard after averaging 13.0 points and 6.3 rebounds for the Dragons. Additionally, Thomas posted a league-best 49 three-pointers throughout the year. Prior to transferring to Sacramento High School before her senior year, Thomas attended Franklin High School in Elk Grove, Calif. where she was a member of the Wildcats varsity team. Playing power forward for the Wildcats, Thomas averaged a double-double for the season posting 22 points and 11 rebounds as a junior. For her play she earned First Team All-Delta League honors while also earning the distinction of being named to the All-Metro team by the Sacramento Bee.
Personal:
Born in Denver, Colo., Shantel Thomas is the daughter of Andree Thomas. She has one younger brother, Shaun Thomas, who also plays collegiate basketball at Montana State. On Nov. 11, 2007, Shantel gave birth to her son, Jaedyn Thomas. In her first year at Pacific, Shantel is a social science major.
