
IDAHO SHOOTS PAST PACIFIC, 74-52
Jan. 15, 2005 MOSCOW, Idaho - The Pacific women's basketball team dropped its second Big West Conference game in a row on the road, this time falling to the Idaho Vandals by the score of 74-52. The Tigers' record fell to 4-9 overall and 2-4 in Big West action, while the Vandals improved to 9-5 overall and 4-1 in conference play. The Tigers hung with the Vandals at the start of the game, playing to a 6-6 tie through the first few minutes of the half. That was short lived though as Idaho would pull ahead with a 11-6 run to take a commanding 17-12 lead with 8:58 to go in the first half. The Vandals then went on a 10-0 run before junior Julie Melcher (St. Paul, Ore.) stopped the run with a bucket at the 1:56 mark and the Tigers trailed 27-14. Pacific went into halftime down 31-14 as they committed 20 turnovers alone in the first half. Idaho never let up in the second half, leading by as much as 26 points for the 74-52 win. The Tigers were paced by juniors Carolina Ruiz (Paradise, Calif.) and Tina Sanerivi (Waipahu, HI) with 13 points each, while junior Dana Zimmerman (Redding, Calif.) pulled down a career-high eight rebounds. For Idaho, Emily Faurholt scored her 1,000th career point during the game and finished with a game-high 28 points. In was her 43rd career game as she tied for ninth place in NCAA history for the fastest to get to 1,000 points. Pacific will return home for a Big West Conference contest on Thursday, Jan. 20, as the Tigers host Cal Poly at 7 p.m. at the Alex G. Spanos Center.
