Box Score

Wichita, Kan. - Despite a furious rally in the second half, the Pacific women's basketball team fell to Wichita State, 71-55, on Sunday, November 26. With the loss the Tigers fell to 1-3 on the season while the Shockers picked up their first win to move to 1-2 overall.

Down 14 points at the half, the Tigers mounted a comeback out of the break, catching fire from behind the arc to out score the Shockers 27-14 throughout the first 10 minutes of the second half. Led by their youngsters, Pacific was able to cut Wichita State's lead to just one point at 51-50 with 9:24 remaining in the contest.

Through the run, the tandem of freshman Jake Kelly (Sacramento, Calif.) and sophomore Renee Roberts (Lodi, Calif.) struck for 14 of the Tigers' points, including hitting four from distance. Roberts capped off the Tigers' run with back-to-back three-pointers from the corner.

Down just one point Pacific had the ball with a chance to take their first lead of the game, but a turnover and a missed free-throw proved to be the unraveling of the Tigers' rally. From that point, the Tigers would be held to just five points over the final nine minutes of the contest allowing the Shockers to pull away for the 16 point win.

For the game the Tigers were led by Kelly who scored a game-high 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including 5-of-8 from distance. 13 of her 19 points came in the second half as she scored Pacific's final five points of the game. Her 19 points marks another career high for the Tigers' freshman point guard in her young career. Right behind Kelly was Roberts who finished the game with a season-high 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting from behind the arc.

As a team the Tigers struggled from the field and the line shooting just 32.3% and 37.5%, respectively.

For the Shockers, three players hit double figures led by Lexee McDonnell's team-best 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including 5-of-9 from behind the arc. Kyrie Kinder added 15 points for Wichita State while Antionette Wells finished with a double-double scoring 10 points while pulling down 15 rebounds.
