Young Continues Hot Streak With Player Of The Week Honors

Irvine, Calif. - For the third time in the last four weeks, a Pacific women's basketball player has taken home the Big West Player of the Week award as junior Janae Young (Sacramento, Calif.) captured the award for the week ending on March 9. The award marks the second time this month Young has garnered the recognition, she also won on February 18, and the fourth time this season a Pacific player has won the award (Other recipients: Karen Dawkins (January 2), Kelsey Lavender (March 3)).
With the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament on the line, Young led the Tigers to a dominating performance over UC Riverside as Pacific picked up an 82-60 win over the defending conference champions. Against the Highlanders, Young posted her second 20+ point effort of the season, dropping in 21 points on 7-of-12 (.583) shooting from the floor. From behind the arc, Young hit both of her three-point attempts while also going 5-of-6 from the line. In addition to scoring, Young grabbed a team-high eight rebounds while also dishing out three assists and posting one block and one steal in 29 minutes of action.
Young and the Tigers will be back in action on Thursday, March 13, at the Big West Conference Tournament in Anaheim, Calif. as they play the highest remaining seed in quarterfinal action.
