Vianney Campos completed her first season as a graduate coach with Pacific. Her leadership and dedication to the program during the past four years as a student-athlete has made a enormous impact on the Pacific field hockey program. Campos continued her contributions to Tiger field hockey as part of the coaching staff.
"We are excited to have Vianney come back right away," said Pacific head coach Linda MacDonald. "Her experiences Internationally this summer and those from Pacific will help our team in many ways."
During her four years as a player at Pacific she led the Tigers to 39 combined victories. Vianney earned NFHCA All-America honors in 2007, just the fourth player to receive All-America honors in school history. The last University of the Pacific field hockey All-American was Wendy Crain, who received the award in 1989.
In her senior season alone, Vianney recorded 32 goals and eight assists on the season for a total of 72 points, which are all single season school records. Vianney led the entire nation in goals per game (3.79) and points per game (1.68) during the 2007 season. Vianney capped her final collegiate season in the NFHCA Senior All-Star Game as she scored four goals and delivered one assist.
In her four year career, Campos captured every offensive record at Pacific including goals in a game (5), goals in a career (68), assists in a career (18), and points in a career (154). Vianney also captured three Nor-Pac Offensive Player of the Year Awards, four Nor-Pac All Conference First Team honors, four NFHCA All-West Region Team awards and 10 Nor-Pac Conference Player of the Week awards.
In the summer of 2006 and 2007 Campos was selected to the USA Field Hockey's Northern California team as one of the top field hockey players in the country. She competed with the National Team is Azerbaijan in the summer of 2007 at the ATA Holding Championship. Vianney was also named to the US Field Hockey Development Squad. Campos was invited to train with the US team at the Olympic training center in Chula Vista in Feb., 2007.
A Guadalajara, Mexico native, Campos is the daughter of Alejandro and Graciela Campos. Vianney graduated from Pacific in the year 2007 with a double major in sociology with emphasis in criminal justice and minor in sport pedagogy. She is currently working on her masters in sport sciences.
