Pacific Field Hockey Places Fifth at Second Annual Sony Field Hockey Challenge

April 7, 2008

Stanford, Calif. - The Pacific Field Hockey squad participated in the Second Annual Field Hockey Challenge on Saturday, Apr. 5 and Sunday, Apr. 6. The Tigers finished the two-day tournament 1-4-1 to earn fifth place.

The Sony Challenge allowed the Tigers to face off with some of the best competition in the country as the six-team tournament featured two 2007 Final Four participants (Penn State and Wake Forest), the Sony Bravia Ladies, California, Stanford and the Tigers.

"To be able to play against this type of competition, two talented teams from the east coast and a national team gives you an idea where you are," said Pacific head coach Linda MacDonald. "All the games were close and it was a really competitive tournament."

"This tournament is vital to getting us ready for next season and I was pleasantly surprised with how we performed," noted MacDonald. "We competed well, were very fit, showed good intensity and the effort was good as well. This is a good jumping off point."
