2005 (RS-Junior): For the second consecutive season, Peterson played in and started all 20 games for the Tigers in 2005. One of two Tigers to play in and start every game of her career, Suzy has seen action in 59 games in three seasons as a Tiger. One of Pacific's three captains, Suzy tallied one goal on the season from the midfield. Her one goal came in Pacific's 3-2 loss to Cal State Fullerton on October 9. Off the field, Peterson continued her excellence in the classroom as she was named to the Academic All-West Region team for the first time in her career. In addition, for the second straight year, Suzy garnered Academic All-Big West Conference recognition. 2004 (RS-Sophomore): Returning to the starting lineup in 2004, Suzy put her durability to the test as she was one of four Tigers to start in each of Pacific's 19 games. Peterson made her presence felt immediately, scoring the Tigers' game-winning goal and adding an assist in the third game of the season as Pacific routed the University of Northern Iowa, 4-0, on Sept. 3 in the first Nike Invitational tournament. For the season, Peterson finished with five points as she produced two goals and one assist. Off the field, Suzy was named to the All-Big West Academic Team 2003 (Sophomore): Suzy did not play the 2003 season due to an injury suffered in the final preseason exhibition game. Peterson put her athletic prowess to work as she joined the Pacific softball team mid-season and into the NCAA tournament to give the Tigers an extra base-runner when needed. She had her first collegiate at-bat on May 14 against UC Riverside. 2002 (Freshman): In her inaugural season with Pacific, Peterson led the Tigers with five assists and ranked third on the team in points with 15. To go along with her assists, Suzy added five goals and one game-winning goal, which came against Wright State on Sept. 6. The goal was her first goal as a Tiger. As a freshman, Suzy was relied upon to start all 20 games for the Tigers. High School: Peterson attended Granite Bay High School in Granite Bay, Calif., where she played both basketball and soccer. Suzy finished her brilliant high school soccer career with a school-record 53 goals. In 2001, Peterson broke the single season record for goals with 24, earning the honor of being named to the All-Sierra Foothill League First Team in her junior and senior seasons. She was also named the Sacramento Bee Player of the Year for 2002. Off the field, she was recognized as a four-year Academic Merit Award Winner. Club Team: Suzy played club soccer for the three-time Northern California State Cup Champion Placer Sharks. Personal: Born in Walnut Creek, Calif., she is the daughter of Wayne and Barbara Peterson. Suzy has two older sisters, Jen and Kim. She plans to graduate with a degree in sport sciences. |
