In addition to their No. 2 ranking in the conference, the Tigers finished the 2007 season ranked No. 35 in the country in hitting out of 277 Division I teams. Under his guidance, the Tigers finished the season No. 1 in the Big West in On-Base Percentage (.383), Runs Batted In (267), Walks (208), Fewest Strikeouts (222) and in Runs Scored (296). Their 4.96 runs per game average ranked No. 48 nationally.

In the second season under Candrea, four different Tigers garnered all-conference honors, headlined by Nicole Matson earning Big West Freshman Field Player of the Year honors. In addition to Matson, Casey Goldsand, Lindsey Pierce and Kellee Wilson each earned all-conference awards for their play in the field and at the plate. In 2009, the Tigers' offense again proved to be formidable as Pacific posted a .271 batting average, third best in the Big West, despite suffering numerous injuries throughout its lineup. Individually, the Tigers again placed four hitters on the all-conference team as Paige Emerson and Karie Wilson joined Goldsand and Kellee Wilson, who were repeat honorees from the season before.

Candrea joined Pacific after spending four seasons as an assistant coach with the Arizona Wildcats from 2000-2004. During his time as an assistant, Candrea was in charge of hitting for the Wildcats, who finished as the top hitting team in the Pacific-10, leading the conference in batting average and home runs in 2004. Before working with the softball program, Candrea was a student assistant with the Wildcats' baseball team from 1998-2000.

Candrea earned his bachelor's degree in communication from the University of Arizona in 2004.
