2011 (Redshirt-Sophomore):
The quintessential student-athlete, Gabby became the recipient of the prestigious Barry M. Goldwater scholarship for excellence in the classroom in 2011, an award given to 275 students throughout the nation. On the field, McDaniel saw action in eight contests as she was limited due to complications with the injury she sustained in 2010. Despite the injury, Gabby still posted a 3.06 ERA as she also added 11 strikeouts in 16 innings pitched. She finished the year with just a .233 batting average against, the top batting average against among Pacific's four pitchers.

2010 (Sophomore):
One of the Tigers' stable of arms coming into the 2010 season, Gabby appeared in 15 games for Pacific before suffering a season ending leg injury midway through the year in a contest against Stanford on March 28. Prior to the injury, McDaniel went 3-8 overall in the circle with 11 starts and five complete games. She posted a 3.97 ERA in 67.0 innings pitched while tallying 57 strike outs and 46 walks. She allowed opponents to hit .252 at the plate while giving up exactly one hit per inning throughout her season of work. She was awarded a medical redshirt for the season after the end of the year.

2009 (Freshman):
Playing in her first collegiate season, Gabby established herself as the Tigers' No. 2 starter in the circle, starting 13 games while making 27 appearances overall. In total, Gabby threw four complete games while tallying one shutout. Despite a deceiving record of 4-12 on the year, McDaniel showed the ability to step up when needed most, as she orchestrated the Tigers' biggest win of the season when she pitched a complete game, 2-1, victory over No. 21 Cal Poly on May 2. In seven innings pitched, Gabby held the Big West's best team to just one run on six hits, handing the Mustangs their first and only loss at home in 2009. Overall, McDaniel finished the year with the Tigers' best ERA, posting a mark of 2.70 earned runs per game. In 93.1 innings pitched, Gabby posted 74 strike outs and also held the opposition to a staff-best .246 batting average against.

HIGH SCHOOL:
A 2008 graduate of McClatchy High School in Sacramento, Calif., Gabby played just one season of high school softball. In 2008, as a senior, Gabby joined the softball team, where she posted a 13-3 overall record and a minuscule 0.58 ERA. For her play, Gabby was named to The Sacramento Bee All-Metro Team after the season. Despite not playing more than one season in high school, McDaniel was an accomplished club team pitcher, leading the Runnin Rebels Gold team to a national championship in the circle with an impressive 4-0 record and a 0.00 ERA at the AFA National Tournament in 2008-09. Prior to the 2008 season, McDaniel ran track at McClatchy High School, where she was was named her team's Jumper of the Year as well as the team's Sprinter of the Year in 2007. Her field events included the long jump and triple jump, while her track events included running the 100, 200 and 4x400 relay.

PERSONAL:
Born in Sacramento, Calif., Gabby McDaniel is the daughter of Tara and Ennis McDaniel. She has one sister, Chelsea. Gabby medically retired from softball due to injury after the 2011 season. She will graduate from Pacific in the fall of 2011 with a degree in geology.
