Severson continues her role as the Tigers' pitching coach for the 2010 season as she enters her fourth year with the Pacific softball program. In her first three seasons guiding the Tigers' pitching staff, Pacific's pitchers earned four all-conference awards with Chelsea Engle and Alyce Jorgensen earning the honors in her first two seasons. In her first season of coaching in 2007, Pacific's pitchers finished the year with a 36-24 overall record and a 3.32 ERA. Against the tough-hitting Big West, Pacific's staff led the way with a conference-best 1.94 team ERA in conference action during the 18 game stretch. In 2008, the Tigers bested their previous year's mark with a 3.19 ERA while striking out 268 batters, a mark placing the Tigers third in the conference. In 2009, the Tigers struggled to find their rhythm in the midst of injuries to their roster. Overall, Pacific's pitchers posted a 3.46 ERA while striking out 235 in 347.2 innings. Severson joined Pacific after spending four seasons at Stanford as one of the Cardinal's top pitchers. Severson posted 43 career victories in the circle, fifth most in program history. In addition to piling up the wins, Severson threw 280 career strikeouts, fourth highest all-time in Stanford history. In 2006, as a senior, Severson led the Cardinal to Super Regional play after posting a 10-1 overall record with a 1.96 ERA with 43 strikeouts in 96.1 innings pitched. As a sophomore in 2004, Severson and the Cardinal advanced to the College World Series after finishing the regular season at an impressive 49-19. In addition to her playing, Severson garnered Academic All-Pac 10 honors after her senior season. A native of Frankfort, Ill., Severson earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Stanford in 2006. she is currently working on her masters degree. |
