Tigers Claim Second Victory Over Colorado State, 10-0
March 15, 2006
Stockton, Calif. - The Tigers scored 10 runs on 10 hits to run-rule Colorado State in the second game of a doubleheader March 15 at Bill Simoni Field. The Tigers earned their 12th win of the season in a game in which four players had two or more RBI's
Pacific once again jumped out to the early lead behind Briana Santos' (Garden Grove, Calif.) first career home run in the bottom of the first. Santos' left field homer scored senior Kristen Allen (Citrus Heights, Calif.) who had previous recorded an RBI on a single through the right side that scored Lizzie Hagen (Anaheim, Calif.).
The Tigers pulled away in the bottom of the third, scoring seven runs on six hits to push the score to 10-0. Carbonatto (Lake Stevens, Wash.) started things out with a single up the middle and stole second. Jennifer Curtier (Lancaster, Calif.) took a base on balls and Kristen Allen singled through the left side to move Carbonatto to third and Curtier to second.
Pacific scored a batter later when Santos singled, scoring Carbonatto. Lauren Weyman (Carlsbad, Calif.) then proceeded to double, scoring both Sandelin (Sedro-Woolley, Wash.) from second and Curtier from third. Presson (Livermore, Calif.) matched her teammate in her next at bat, recording two RBI's on a double through the left side that scored Weyman and Santos.
Mandy Hickman (Phoenix, Ariz.) topped off the inning for Pacific, hitting her first home run of the season, second of her career, to left center field. Chelsea Engle notched her fifth win of the season, pitching three innings for Pacific.
The game would end 10-0 after five innings due to the run-rule invoked in softball.
