2004-05: Banks recorded season best times in the 400 IM (4:32.95) and the 100 Breast (1:06.99) at the Big West Championships, and recorded a personal best 2:17.81 in the 200 Back against Cal State Northridge. 2003-04: Melissa was a key swimmer in her first year, as she etched her name in the school record book, moving into the top ten in the 100 Breast (1:05.81, seventh place), 200 Breast (2:19.03, fourth place), 200 IM (2:07.42, seventh place), and 400 IM 4:24.79, fourth place). Of the six events in which she registered career best times, four of them were set at the Big West Championships. High School: Melissa attended Harbor High School in Santa Cruz. Calif., while there, Banks was a standout swimmer for four years and team captain her senior year. She earned MVP honors all four years, and All-American status in the 500 Free, 200 IM, 100 Breast, 200 Medley Relay, and 200 Free Relay. Melissa also set 11 school records in all events, three Central Coast League records, and never lost a league race. Melissa also excelled in the classroom being on the Honor Roll, a Scholar All-American, and a CSF qualifier. Personal: Melissa Banks was born in Santa Cruz, Calif., and is the daughter of Gary and Branna Banks. Melissa is majoring in business marketing in her third year at Pacific with a future interest of working for a large corporation or firm. |
