2007-08 (Freshman): After one year with Pacific, Samantha looks to be another key swimmer for the Tigers. She finished her freshman campaign on an exceptionally high note, taking many important finishes at the Big West Championships from Feb. 20-23. There she was part of the 800 Free Relay team that claimed third place overall with a 7:28.27 time, and established herself as Pacific's second-best swimmer in the 50 Free (23.46), finishing fourth out of all Big West swimmers. Caldwell also took ninth in the conference championships with a 1:51.88 finish in the 200 Free - good for second overall on the Tiger roster. High School: Samantha graduated from Mountain Pointe High School in Ahwatukee, Ariz. While swimming for the Lions, Caldwell was the MVP following her sophomore, junior and senior years. She set the 100 Free regional, city meet and school record and Caldwell holds the Mountain Pointe record in the 50 Free. Personal: Samantha Caldwell was born in Chandler, Ariz., and is the daughter of Reed and Janet Caldwell. She has one sister, Danielle. In her second season at Pacific, Samantha has not declared a major, but plans to go on to dental school. |
