2006-07 (Junior): In her junior campaign, Sarah picked up a second place finish in a meet against Cal Poly and UC Davis when she finished the 200 Fly in a time of 2:13.48. Gutierrez represented the Tigers in seven individual events throughout the season and recorded personal bests in the 500 Free (5:04.16) and 1000 Free (10:23.61). Sarah's other season best times included the 1,650 Free (17:30.12) and the 400 IM (4:38.93) 100 Free (58.18) and 200 Free (2:00.71). 2005-06 (Sophomore): As a sophomore, Sarah finished third in the 1650 Free and seventh in the 500 Free at the Big West Championships. Her fastest times in the 200 Free (1:56.64), 500 Free (5:04.83), 1000 Free (10:27.42), and the 200 Fly (2:10.17) were all recorded at the Husky Meet. Gutierrez also competed in the 100 Fly (1:02.21), 200 IM (2:14.30), and the 400 IM (4:38.37) throughout the season. During the summer of 2006, Sarah competed on the 800 Free Relay team that placed 34th at the 2006 ConocoPhillips National Championships. 2004-05 (Freshman):: Sarah's first season for the Tigers showed her versatility as she swam in eight individual events during the course of the season. She competed in both the 100 and 200 Fly, the 200 IM, and the 100, 200, 500, 1000, and 1650 Free. She recorded a season best 17:28.96 in the 1650 Free at the Big West Championships. High School: Sarah attended Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, Calif., where she helped the Monarchs swim team win CCS champions three straight years (2002-04). She lettered all four years in swimming and her team went undefeated for four straight years in league play (2001-04). Sarah received All-American consideration in the 500 Free and two years in a row she was voted most improved swimmer on her team. Her senior year, she earned the fifth and eighth best times in the school record book in the 500 Free and 200 Free. She also excelled in the classroom, earning Honor Roll status and being a part of the National Honor Society. Personal: Sarah Gutierrez was born in San Jose, Calif., and is the daughter of Mike and Merry Gutierrez. Sarah is an exploratory major in her fourth year at Pacific. |
