2008-09 (Freshman):

Elena set the best time of the season in the 100 fly (55.31) during the Big West Championships, which she placed fifth. Elena had the second best time of the season in the 200 fly (2:04.59) and third best in the 200 IM (2:10.84). She took over the ninth spot in Pacific record books with a time of 2:04.59.

High School:

Elena graduated from Framingham High School in 2008. She was a member of the Shawmut Aquatic Club and swam under coaches Matthew Craven and Susan Trainer. During her high school years, the team consistently finished in the top three in the New England Senior Championships, and Walterman claimed an individual title in the 100 Fly during the 2006 season. She has previously been named to the National Top 16 list, as well as the New England Top 10.

Personal:

Elena Walterman was born in Plano, Texas, and is the daughter of Michael Walterman and Nora Scharf. She has a twin brother, Maxwell, and an older brother Thomas, who are both swimmers like their sister. For fun she enjoys surfing, snowboarding and traveling. Elena has yet to declare a major in her first year at Pacific.
