2008-09 (Sophomore): Nikki had the second best time of the season in the 100 fly (57.26) and third est in the 200 fly (2:09.86). She had the fourth best time in the 100 back (59.74) and in the 200 back (2:26.70). She finished ninth during the 100 fly race during the Big West Championships. 2007-08 (Freshman): In her first year as a Tiger, Nikki established herself as one of the top three butterfly specialists on the roster. She will come back for a second year, swimming primarily in butterfly and freestyle events in the 2008-09 season, after she was the third-fastest swimmer for Pacific in the Big West Championships in the 100 and 200 Fly (58.06 and 2:09.24). She showed promise for her future at Pacific, ending the season with a time of 25.74 in the 50 Free at the Big West Championships in February. High School: Yamamoto graduated from Iolani School in Honolulu, Hawaii. As a Raider, Nikki earned four letters in swimming and three in water polo. She also excelled in the classroom, earning a spot on the headmaster's list with a GPA above 3.5. Personal: Nicole Yamamoto was born in Hilo, Hawaii. She is the daughter of Bruce and Gwen Yamamoto and has one sibling, Jared. Nikki enjoys going to the beach when she is not swimming competitively. In her second year at Pacific, Nikki is majoring in sport sciences and is considering becoming an orthopedist or a kinesiologist. |
