Las Vegas, Nev. - The Pacific Tigers women's tennis team picked up their first victory of the dual meet 2008 season on Saturday, Jan. 26 with a clean 7-0 sweep of the Weber State Wildcats.

The victory evened Pacific's record at 1-1 early on the season, while Weber State fell to 0-2 overall.

Sophomore Svenja Arens (Bensberg, Germany) played at the number one position for the Tigers, defeating Ashley Schapper 6-3, 6-2. In doubles play Arens teamed up with sophomore Sasha Fisher (Southampton, Bermuda) again at the number one position where they defeated Inalise Pienaar and Gabriela Venditto, 8-0.

The Tigers return to action this evening to take on New Mexico State. A match originally scheduled for tomorrow Jan. 27th moved up in an effort to avoid potentially inclement weather.
