
Pacific Drops Tough Match to New Mexico State, 4-3

Las Vegas Nev. In their second match of the day the Pacific women's tennis squad was downed by the New Mexico State Aggies, 4-3, on Saturday, Jan. 26. The loss dropped Pacific to 1-2 early in the dual match season, while New Mexico State moved to 2-1 overall. Junior Jolanta Twarowska (Hamburg, Germany) and freshman Olga Gumenyuk (Kiev, Ukraine) picked up the lone win for the Tigers in doubles competition when they defeated Sophia Marks and Aleksa Costa, 8-1 at the number two position. In singles play, freshman Kateryna Nezhura (Kiev, Ukraine) was victorious for the Tigers at the number four position defeating Anne Fagegaltier 6-4, 6-1. Sophomore Sasha Fisher (Southampton, Bermuda) was also triumphant at the number six position winning in three sets 1-6, 6-2, 7-6(7). Pacific returns to the courts on Saturday, Feb. 2 as the Tigers open their home schedule at 11 a.m. against Saint Mary's at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts. 2008 PACIFIC TENNIS RESULTS
