Sophomore Svenja Arens reaches quarterfinals of Fresno State Bulldog Classic

Fresno, Calif. Sophomore Svenja Arens (Bensburg, Germany) highlighted play for the Pacific women's tennis team on Saturday, Sept. 22 as she advanced to the quarterfinals of the Fresno State Bulldog Classic. Arens notched two victories in singles play on Friday in the opening two rounds to move into the round of 16 as play began on Saturday. Arena advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating Jacqueline Haskett of Fresno State, 7-5, 6-1. In the quarterfinals, Arens fell to Nevada's top player, Maria Mizyuk, 6-5, 6-1. Tiger freshman Kateryna Nezhura (Kiev, Ukraine) also had a nice showing at the Bulldog Classic, winning three consolation matches on Saturday. Nezhura advanced to the consolation bracket semi-finals on Sunday, Sept. 23. Singles - Round of 64
