Berkeley, Calif. - The Pacific women's tennis team opened it 2008 tournament season as the team of junior Svenja Arens (Bensberg, Germany) and sophomore Kateryna Nezhura (Kiev, Ukraine) advanced to the quarterfinals of the Doubles Blue Division at the Cal / Nike Invitational on Friday, Sept. 26.

Arens and Nezhura defeated the team of Isabelle Hoy and Kacie Wagner of Santa Clara, 8-1. The Pacific duo will face the second-seeded team of Bruna Paes and Laura Pola on Sunday.

In singles play, Nezhura defeated Pola from Fresno State, 6-1, 6-1 to advance to the round of 16. Later Friday afternoon, Nezhura fell to the top seed in the Blue Division, Marion Ravelojaona of Cal, by the same score, 6-1, 6-1.

The Tigers will continue play at the Cal / Nike Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 27.
