Pacific's Kostenko and Mrazovic eliminated in first round of ITA All-American

Los Angeles, Calif. - Both Pacific participants from the Tigers' women's tennis team were eliminated in the first round of qualifying on Saturday, Oct. 1.

The Tigers tandem of junior Vana Mrazovic (Belgrade, Serbie & Montenegro) and senior Natalia Kostenko (Rostov-on-Don, Russia) were unable to find the stroke that gave them a second place finish at the Fresno State Bulldog Classic last week. Both Mrazovic and Kostenko fell in the first round of the singles competition before falling as a doubles team, also in the first round.

Mrazovic fell in the opening round to Mississippi's Virginia Tomatis, 6-2, 6-2. Kostenko did not fair much better, falling in the opening round to Georgia Tech's Tarryn Rudman, who received a tournament ranking of No. 4. The scores for the match were 6-3, 6-0.

In doubles, the Tigers' lone team fell in the opening round to the team of Imke Reimers and Milena Schulz-Gartner of Nebraska, 8-5.
