
Mrazovic and Kostenko Finish 2005 In The Regional Rankings
June 7, 2005 Skillman, N.J. - The Pacific women's tennis team put to rest its 2005 season as it witnessed its top two singles players and top doubles team finish ranked in the final Northwest Regional rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for the 2004-05 season. As a team, the Tigers finished the 2004-05 season ranked No. 7 in the region and No. 64 nationally after completing the programs best overall season in terms of winning percentage. Pacific finished with an overall record of 19-6 overall record, one win shy of the program record of 20 wins, set in 1984. Individually, the Tigers top two singles players finished the season ranked regionally, led by Vana Mrazovic (Belgrade, Serbia & Monetengro), who finished the season ranked No. 25 in the Northwest. Just behind her, Natalia Kostenko (Rostov-on-Don, Russia) cracked the regional rankings for the first time in her career as she completed her junior campaign ranked No. 29. Mrazovic finished her sophomore season with an overall record of 21-11 while playing No. 1 singles for the Tigers. During the season, Mrazovic jumped into the national rankings, climbing as high as No. 62 in the country. Kostenko repeated her record setting feat from the 2003-04 season with another 27 win season as she moved up to the No. 2 singles position for Pacific. For her play, Kostenko garnered first team All-Big West recognition for the first time in her career. In doubles, the team of Mrazovic and Katharina Heil (Zellingen, Germany) played their way into a final regional ranking of No. 14. The duo finished the season with a record of 20-9 overall and were named to the All-Big West First Team.
