The starting setter from Punahou High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, Pihanakealoha led Punahou to a second place finish in the Hawaii State Tournament in 2008 and a third place finish in 2007. Kea was also an outstanding club setter as she led the Jamers to a second place finish in the Junior Olympics. Following the 2008 Junior Olympics, Kea was one of three Jamers named to the all-tournament team. In addition to her impressive resume on the volleyball court, Pihanakealoha was the first runner-up in the 2008 Miss Hawaii Outstanding Teen Pageant.

Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Pihanakealoha is the daughter of Connie and Tracy Kea. She has three siblings, Jeremiah, Sarah and Kea. In her first year at Pacific, Pihanakealoha is majoring in business.
