2004 (Junior): Laura had a breakout junior year when she scored a career-high 16 goals. Five times Besmer had a career-high of two goals in a game. Overall, she scored in 11 games, with her best stretch coming in the last 10 games of the season when she scored seven goals. Besmer also was part of the Pacific Tigers women's swim team, who won the Big West title for the third year in a row. 2003 (Sophomore): Besmer continued showing off her athletic ability, as she was part of the women's swim and water polo teams in 2003. She came up with four goals in her limited time with the team. Laura scored her ninth career goal on Feb. 12th in the Tigers' 14-5 win over Occidental. 2002 (Freshman): A two-sport athlete for the Tigers, Laura joined the water polo squad in late February last season. In a reserve role, Besmer finished the season with five goals and was one of the primary sprinters for the Tigers. High School: Laura attended Clovis High School in Clovis, Calif. As a Cougar, Laura was named league and team MVP as a senior and earned a combined eight letters in swimming and water polo. In addition, Besmer finished in the top 20 acedemically for her graduating class. Personal: Laura Besmer was born on January 25, 1983 in Clovis, Calif. and is the daughter of Thomas and Barbara Besmer. In her fourth year at Pacific, Laura is a psychology major. |
