Virginia McConnell comes back to Pacific after graduating in 2008, to help head coach Megan Thomson as a graduate assistant coach.
A shoulder injury and surgery sidelined Virginia during the 2006 season, when she was granted a medical redshirt. But from there, she rebounded nicely after breakout freshman and sophomore campaigns. Starting out her career in 2004 with the Tigers, McConnell recorded a team-high 37 goals in 34 games, for one of the best freshman performances in Tiger history.
After the surgery, Virginia scored 44 goals for the Tigers in a single-season with Pacific, ranking third on the team for goals scored during the 2007 season. Her 137 career goals at Pacific places her in the top five scorers in school history.
Though she was born in Raleigh, N.C., Virginia attended John McCrae High School in Ottawa, Ontario, where she participated with the women's Ottawa Titan water polo club and helped guide her team in 2003 to a first-place finish at the Ontario Junvile and Junior women's provinicial championships. Her team also placed fifth at the Speedo 2003 Junvile Women's National club championship.
A graduate student, McConnell will be pursuing an MBA.
