Tigers Fall to Cal State San Bernardino in Overtime, 13-11

Tempe, Ariz. - Despite pushing Cal State San Bernardino to overtime in the Tigers' final game of the Arizona State Invitational, the Pacific women's water polo team was unable to hold on as they fell to the Coyotes by a score of 13-11 on Mar. 30 at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. The loss was the Tigers' fourth of the weekend and dropped their overall record to 4-21 on the season.
Senior Kellie Fletcher (Roseville, Calif.) led the Tigers in goals scored on the day as she scored on seven occasions over the course of the first four quarters of regulation and throughout the two overtime periods. Cal State San Bernardino's Freyja Berg also recorded seven goals in the contest as she led the Coyotes in scoring.
Although the Tigers led the game for a majority of the final three quarters of regulation, they were not able to hold on as they surrendered four goals in the final quarter of the game to force the overtime periods. It was then in overtime when the Coyotes outscored the Tigers by a 3-1 margin to secure the victory and to hand the Tigers their fourth and final loss of the invitational.
Other Tigers scoring in the loss were Jessica Safir (Los Gatos, Calif.), Dara Tawarahara (Honolulu, Hawaii), and Virginia McConnell (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada). McConnell scored twice as she scored once in the first period and once in the second, while Safir scored once in the first and Tawarahara scored once in the second.
Senior Jocelyn Gray (Strathmore, Alberta, Canada) was in goal for the Tigers and recorded ten saves in the loss.
The Tigers will return to action on April 6, when the take on UCLA in Los Angelos, Calif. at 1:00 p.m.
