2008 (Sophomore): Kristina competed in the first meet of the season, taking a 44th place finish in the 5K race. In a field of 80 runners, she took third place at the Mills College Invitational with a time of 20:12.08. At the Doc Adams Invitational, Kristina set a personal best time of 23:17.30 in the 6K race to finish 14th. Breaking a school and personal record at the Santa Clara Bronco Cross Country Invitational, Hammarstrom took 49th place with a time of 18:35 in the 5K race. She set another personal record at the Big West Invitational with a time of 22:54.00 and a 52nd place finish. In the NCAA West Regionals, Kristina had the second best time for the Tigers with 23:16.31. 2007 (Freshman): In her first year as a Tiger, Kristina produced solid numbers for the Pacific squad. Hammarstrom recorded her best 6K time ever on Nov. 10 at the NCAA West Regionals where she ran a 24:12. Hammarstrom's best finish came on Sept. 17 at the Sacramento State Invitational where she posted a time of 21:12 for a 27th place finish. Her best 5K time came at the Cal Poly Invitational on Oct. 13 with a time of 20:04. At the Big West Championships Hammarstrom finished 54th overall, and recorded a time of 25:17. High School: Kristina attended East Union High School in Manteca, Calif. where she earned three varsity letters in cross country and four in track. She earned All-League honors as a sophomore, a junior, and a senior in cross country and as a senior she was the MVP of the Valley Oak League in cross country and in track. Personal: Kristina Hammarstrom was born in Modesto, Calif. and is the daughter of Brent and Barbara Hammarstrom. She has two older siblings, Sara hand Jessey. In her spare time she enjoys knitting, crocheting, and sewing. In her second year at Pacific, Kristina is majoring in engineering management. |
