Marie Nguyen will be returning to the Pacific cross country team for her second year as an assistant coach under fourth year head coach Greg Rhines this fall. Nguyen competed in track and cross country at UC Irvine from 2004-07 and graduated from the university in the spring of last year. She earned six varsity letters over a combined six seasons with the Anteaters, and will bring a wealth of Big West experience to Pacific's young squad this season.

While competing in cross country at UC Irvine, Nguyen's fastest 5K time was 17:05, which she recorded in the fall of 2005. Her fastest times in track and field for the Anteaters were 4:38 in the 1500 and 9:52 in the 3000; both were run in the spring of 2006. She also ran a 4:52 mile during the 2006 indoor track season.

Before attending UC Irvine, Nguyen attended Milpitas High School in Milpitas, Calif., where she earned four varsity letters in track and four more in cross country as a Trojan. As a senior in 2003-2004, she was the MVP of her track and cross country teams, was named her school's athlete of the year, and earned Central Coast Conference first-team honors for her performances throughout the season. She also finished first in the Central Coastal Section Division I League finals in 2004.

Nguyen graduated with a bachelor's degree in biological sciences from UC Irvine in the spring of 2007. She was born in McKinney, Texas and enjoys running and dancing in her free time. In addition to working as an assistant cross country coach at Pacific, she is also currently pursuing a degree in pharmacy.
